Kennedy was a Pennsylvania surgeon with the 4th Pa. Battalion. He was killed at Monmouth on June 28, 1778. Here he writes to Persifor Frazer, a Revolutionary soldier, iron-maker and merchant, telling him that upon his arrival at Chester, "I found Sundry of the men much Indispos'd but no Medicine [I] was therefore Oblig'd to Return without doing anything for them, but directing the Commissary and Nurse Must now go immediately for Philadelphia to get a proper Supply of Med[icine]."
